The NHL is coming off a pretty slow evening and heading into a very busy one tonight. While we’re getting set for those matchups, let’s visit with some of the notable players and stats in the headlines right now.
Ryan Johansen, C, Nashville Predators: Over at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville last night, the Predators took out the visiting Kings 5-2.
Johansen bagged a goal and an assist, while James Neal scored his 28th goal of the year (and he had an assist as well). The Preds scored three times in the second period here.
Nashville is now 37-23-13 for 87 points; the Kings are 44-23-5 with 93 points.

William Nylander, RW, Toronto Maple Leafs: At Air Canada Centre in Toronto last night, the Leafs took a 5-2 victory over the incoming Flames.
Nylanders scored and had two assists, as Toronto took a 2-2 game to a relative blowout with three goals in the third period.
The Leafs are 26-35-11 with 63 points; the Flames have 68 points at 31-36-6.
Steve Mason, G, Philadelphia Flyers: Mason had a solid game last night at Barclays Center. He stopped 23 of 24 shots against the Islanders, helping his team to a 4-1 victory.
Also of note here, Kyle Okposo scored his 20th goal, and Claud Giroux got his 19th.
The Flyers are now 35-24-12 with 82 points; the Isles are 38-24-9 with 85 points.
Rick Nash, LW, New York Rangers: Nash finally broke out last night Madison Square Garden, scoring for the first time since returning from injury.
His effort was part of a 4-2 Rangers win over the visiting Panthers. Henriq Lundqvist put up 25 saves on 27 shots.
The Rangers are now 41-24-8 at 90 points; the Panthers have 89 at 40-24-9.
