The Ducks look to shake off a loss in Montreal against he Canadiens as they head into Toronto to battle the last place Maple Leafs.
The Ducks spoiled a great opportunity to make up ground on the LA Kings in the Pacific division as they dropped a regulation affair at the Bell Centre against he Montreal Canadiens and now head into the ACC against the Leafs sitting four points behind their in-state rivals. The Ducks do though have a game in hand on the Kings and could chip away at that deficit with a solid effort here against a Maple Leafs side that has been playing much better of late but will still likely finish with the league’s worst record. Anaheim is 17-14-4 on the road this season and will likely send rookie phenom John Gibson to the crease as he will square off against Garett Sparks for the Leafs who continues to split time with Jonathan Bernier.

The Maple Leafs have given their fans a bit of a scare over the last week or so as their plan to tank and give themselves the best shot at landing the top overall draft pick has become cloudy thanks to a two game winning streak and five wins in their last 10 games. Toronto is in the early stages of a full rebuild and have sent a number of mainstays out the door over the last calendar year and with some cap space, a high end draft pick, and an existing group of young prospects in the system the Leafs are certainly doing things the right way. However, in the interim I think their losing ways return in this one as the Ducks desperately need a win to keep pace with LA and I don’t think they leave any doubt here.
