The Predators look to shake off a tough loss at home against the Avalanche last night as they take to the road to face off against the Dallas Stars.
The Predators failed to make up any ground on the idle Chicago Blackhawks on Monday night as they dropped a 4-3 decision in regulation against the visiting Colorado Avalanche in what was a huge win for the road side who is competing for the second wild card spot. Nashville has been one of the hottest teams in the league since the all-star break and should feel pretty confident in their ability to lock up a wild card spot as they sit six points clear of the Wild for the final spot with only six games remaining on each of their respective schedules. Nashville though is in tough here against a Stars team looking to win the Central division as they are currently in a dead heat with the St. Louis Blues with a 45-22-9 mark. Pekka Rinne is expected to get the start as he will likely face off against Kari Lehtonen for the Stars.

Dallas has been among the league’s best all season long and could be rewarded for their efforts with the top overall seed in the Western Conference and a Central division crown. The Stars are loaded in the offensive zone and while they have been without a healthy Tyler Seguin for quite some time they continue to fill the net and the scoresheet every night and remain a legitimate threat to win the Stanley Cup this season. Dallas heads into this one with a 6-2-2 record in their last 10 contests and while this one is just as important for the Predators, especially after dropping points last night, I think Dallas will be too much in this spot as they are just a step ahead of where Nashville is right now.
