The Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers square off Saturday night at the Rexall Place.
The Calgary Flames could use a nice win after losing six of their last eight games. The Calgary Flames are averaging 2.7 goals per game and are scoring on 16.5 percent of their power plays. Johnny Gaudreau leads Calgary with 28 goals, Sean Monahan has 33 assists and Mark Giordano has 203 shots on goal. Defensively, the Calgary Flames are allowing 3.2 goals per game and are killing 74.4 percent of their power play chances. The Edmonton Oilers could also use a win after losing six of their last nine games. The Edmonton Oilers are averaging 2.4 goals per game and are scoring on 17.5 percent of their power plays. Taylor Hall leads Edmonton with 25 goals, Leon Draisaitl has 32 assists and Jordan Eberle has 158 shots on goal. Defensively, the Edmonton Oilers are allowing 2.9 goals per game and are killing 80.5 percent of their power play chances. Cam Talbot has allowed 127 goals on 1,558 shots faced and Laurent Brossoit has given up 18 goals on 142 shots. Talbot has allowed eight goals in his last three games.
The Flames are 5-11 in their last 16 games playing on 1 days rest and 1-5 in their last 6 overall. The Oilers are 3-10 in their last 13 home games and 48-98 in their last 146 overall. The Flames are 7-1 in the last 8 meetings in Edmonton and 38-17 in the last 55 meetings overall.
This should be interesting considering both of these teams are just waiting for the season to come to an end. However, for the sake of the pick, the Oilers are better on the defensive end and would probably love to get a feel good win over a Falmes team that usually has their number. I'll side with the home team.
