The Blues look to shake off a tough loss at the hands of the Bruins as they head into Colorado to battle the Avalanche.
The Blues conceded six goals to the Boston Bruins in their last outing which is very uncharacteristic for a normally very sound defensive team and you can bet they will be out for a better effort in the defensive third here against the Avs. St. Louis is one of the best teams in the league and still have an outside shot at locking up the top seed in the Western Conference as they sit four points back of the Dallas Stars for the Central division lead and do have a game in hand. St. Louis would love to take the division crown and set up a potential first round match up with a wild card team instead of an otherwise inevitable show down with the defending champions and a match up here against Colorado is one the Blues can get up for. Jake Allen has been confirmed as the starter for St. Louis as he will face off against Semyon Varlamov for Colorado,

The Avalanche meanwhile dropped their second game in a row last night against the Washington Capitals and have all but sealed their fate outside of the Western Conference playoff race as they are now five points back of the Wild with four games remaining. Colorado desperately needed a home ice win against the league leaders but couldn’t find a way to generate enough offense as they managed just two goals but were doubled up and lost the game by a 4-2 final. Now, the Avs host a Blues side competing for a Central division crown and with the end in sight I don’t see Colorado getting fired up for this one which should allow the Blues to cruise to victory.
