The Panthers look to move closer to clinching top spot in the Atlantic division as they head into Toronto to take on the Maple Leafs.
The Florida Panthers clinched a playoff spot over the weekend and will have the opportunity to compete for the Stanley Cup but with four games left in the regular season they have a great shot at gaining home ice through the first two rounds if they can win the Atlantic. The Cats have surprised a lot of people with how well they have played this season and with a two point edge on the now Steven Stamkos-less Tampa Bay Lightning and with tonight’s matchup on the road against the lowly Maple Leafs you have to think the Panthers feel comfortable with where they are right now. Roberto Luongo is expected to get the nod in the Florida crease as he will go head to head with Jonathan Bernier who will counter for the Leafs.

Toronto has had a very tough season and head into the offseason with plenty of work to do as they continue to add pieces to their young core and move aside some aging parts that will likely be on the way out. The Leafs sit in last place in the Eastern Conference and are tied with the Oilers for the league’s worst mark which should put them in a good spot for the draft and with the talent at the top of this year’s class being quite strong the Leafs should get another part to add to the exiting core of Morgan Rielly, Mitch Marner, and William Nylander. Ad for tonight, the Leafs are in tough as Florida is a good team that need to keep winning and with a strong match up here I think Florida gets it done.
