If you like hockey, don’t plan on getting any work done tonight. The NHL is back with an absolutely stuffed schedule this evening, and there will be playoff implications all over the place. That said, let’s take our daily look at some of the headlines and key stats out there.

Jimmy Howard, G, Detroit Red Wings: Up at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit last night, the Red Wings secured a shutout victory over the Flyers 3-0.
Howard stopped all 30 shots that came his way. He was helped out by Darren Helm, Andreas Athansiou and Kyle Quincey, who scored in each period.
That gives the Red Wings 93 points. They lead the Bruins by two points for third in the Atlantic, and Boston is tied with Philly for the second wild card. Detroit and Boston have two games left; the Flyers have three.

Patrick Maroon, LW, Edmonton Oilers: Maroon put on a show last night at Rexall Place in Edmonton, helping the Oilers to a 6-2 victory over the Canucks with a pair of goals. Connor McDavid helped out as well, scoring once and assisting twice. Edmonton scored three times in the second and three times in the third period.
This was the final game scheduled to be played at Rexall Place; the Oilers will be moving to a new arena downtown when the 2016-17 season picks up.

Brandon Dubinsky, C, Columbus Blue Jackets: In another game of teams who won’t be making the playoffs this year, the Blue Jackets took a 5-1 victory over the Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre in Toronto last night.
Dubinsky came up with two goals, while Matt Calvert scored had had two assists. Brandon Saad also had a goal and a helper of his own.
Saad’s score was his 29th of the season; Dubinsky now has 17 on his stat sheet.
