The Predators look to continue their Cinderella run in the Western Conference as they kick off their second round series with the Sharks in San Jose on Friday.
The Nashville Predators pulled off the biggest upset of the opening round as they took down the Pacific division champions from Anaheim in a gruelling seven game set that completed on Wednesday night and now they stay in California to take on the Sharks. Nashville was one of the league’s best teams after the all-star break and landed the top wild card spot in the West and ran out of time in their pursuit of a top three spot in the Central division and after taking down the Ducks they get to face off against another Pacific division foe in the Sharks who finally broke through and took down the Kings in the first round. Nashville will look to continue riding the play of Pekka Rinne in the crease as he will excellent against the Ducks all series as he will match up against Martin Jones who continues to be the go to guy in the San Jose net.

The Sharks meanwhile head into this series considered to be heavy favourites despite finishing third in the Pacific division and only two points clear of the Preds in the regular season standings but with the way they played against Los Angeles in the first round it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. San Jose is loaded across the board and finally got everyone on the same page in a playoff series and they made amends for their melt down two seasons ago by sending the Kings packing in five games and making them look amateur. The Preds will give the Sharks fits on some nights but I don’t see it happening in game one as the Sharks get it done on home ice to take a 1-0 series edge.
