The San Jose Sharks are facing elimination in their first ever Stanley Cup appearance as they struggled to find the back of the net in yet another low scoring affair where they had opportunities but couldn’t capitalize.
Ian Cole gave Pittsburgh a 1-0 lead at 7:36 of the opening frame when he lit the lamp when he scored off a Phil Kessel shot that Martin Jones stopped but found Cole’s stick for the put back. Evegni Malkin doubled the lead on the power play at 2:28 of the second off a pass from Kessel.
Melker Karlsson got the Sharks on the board at 8:07 of the third but SJ wouldn’t score again while Carl Haglin added an insurance tally with just over two minutes remaining in regulation. Matthew Murray recorded 23 stops to get the win while Jones allowed three goals on 20 shots.
The trends heavily favor the under with all four games going under 5.5 goals. The Penguins have blown a 3-1 series lead in the Stanley Cup finals before so the Sharks aren’t dead yet. No line is out yet but I am looking at Pittsburgh or the under right now so please check back…
