Scottrade Center and the St. Louis Blues welcome the New York Rangers to town on Saturday in NHL action.
When the New York Rangers have taken the ice with the Islanders last year it wasn’t good news so Wednesday night’s 6-3 win versus their rivals was more then satisfying. The Rangers were simply too much at the offensive end of the ice with five different players scoring with JT Miller Michael Grabner, Mats Zuccarello, Chris Kreider and Brandon Pirri leading the scoring spree in support of Henrik Lundqvist and his 25 saves. The Islanders received goals from Brock Nelson, Nick Leddy and Cal Clutterbuck as their come back from a 2-0 deficit fell short with Jaroslav Halak allowing four goals on 38 shots as the NYR hit the empty net twice in the final minute.

The St. Louis Blues won their 5th consecutive home opener as they squeezed past visiting Minnesota 3-2 on Thursday night. The defensive minded Blues put the clamps on the Wild attack with Charlie Coyle and Ryan Suter scoring which wasn’t enough for Devan Dubnyk who absorbed the loss. Magnus Paajarvi, Alexander Steen and Nail Yakupov paced the St. Louis offense with goals while Patrik Berglund recorded a pair of helpers in support of Jake Allen gave up both goals on 20 shots. Allen was spectacular between the pipes and robbed Minnesota several times and was easily the difference between winning or losing for the Blues.
The over is 2-0-2 in Rangers last 4 after scoring 5 goals or more in their previous game and the o ver is 4-0 in Rangers last 4 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 while going 7-0-4 in Rangers last 11 games playing on 1 days rest. The over is 4-0-1 in Blues last 5 overall and is 3-0-1 in Blues last 4 Saturday games. While going 5-0 in Blues last 5 in the third game of a 3-in-4 days situation. The road team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and the under is 3-1-3 in the last 7 meetings in St. Louis.
If both teams play up to their potential, the under is a definite possibility but goalies have not been announced and these teams simply never play each other…
