The Toronto Maple Leafs look for their first win of the season as they host the Boston Bruins at the Air Canada Centre on Saturday night.
The Bruins head into the ACC to take on their Original Six rivals from Toronto after they pasted the Columbus Blue Jackets in their season opener, and with Brad Marchand riding a great World Cup and impressive season opener you can be sure he will play a factor in this one. The B’s are also expected to get Patrice Bergeron back tonight which adds another dimension to their offense that didn’t miss a beat against the Jackets but will need to show up here against a Leafs side that saw rookie sensation Auston Matthews score four goals in his NHL debut. Tuukka Rask is expected to get the call in the Boston crease as he will match up against Frederik Andersen who will be out for a much better outing after conceding five goals in his season opener in Ottawa.

The Maple Leafs play in their home opener on Saturday night to kick off their Centennial season and you can bet the ACC crowd will be fired up for this one, especially as it marks the first regular season game in the building by Matthews. The Buds got a glimpse of what’s to come as Matthews set an NHL record with four goals in his league debut and accounted for all of the scoring for his new team, but in the end the Sens did enough to escape with a 5-4 overtime win, leaving the Buds still in a tough spot when it comes to finding ways to win. Toronto is still a very young team and will be in tough here against the Bruins who are a much better team than the Sens group they just saw and I think the emergence of Marchand can put this group into a playoff spot in the East.
The B’s are 45-18 in their last 63 Saturday games, 4-9 in their last 13 overall, and 1-5 in their last six games following a loss while the Buds are 40-94 in their last 134 overall, and 0-4 in their last four home games. The Leafs will be fired up here but in their home opener against a bitter rival who has more experience and leadership I think Boston spoils the party.
