The Carolina Hurricanes look for their second win of the season as they stay on the road to face off with the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.

The Hurricanes have yet to play a game on home ice and are coming off a Western Canada road swing to start the year as they head into Philadelphia to match up with a Flyers side looking to make a statement. The Canes have a young roster and aren’t considered to be much of a threat in the Eastern Conference in most circles but they do have a pretty nice defensive unit and a handful of guys who can make a difference in the offensive zone and if they can get another solid season out of Cam Ward they should be able to stay relevant in the Metro. Ward is expected to start Cam Ward here as he will face off against Steve Mason who has emerged as the go to guy in Philly over the last couple of seasons.

The Flyers meanwhile have but one win to their name this season but are a pretty solid group at both ends of the rink and while they have some holes in their lineup and will be on the fringe of a playoff spot this season they will cause some headaches for their opposition. The Flyers have been competitive in all of their games thus far and are now at home against a Hurricanes side that is still in the midst of a lengthy road trip and will be itching to get home here in what could be a look ahead spot for them. Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek lead the way up front and should have their way with an inexperienced Canes blue line in a game that could feature a number of stoppages.

The Canes are 1-5 in their last six overall and 4-9 in their last 13 against the Eastern Conference while the Flyers are 13-5 in their last 18 games on one day’s rest and 2-5 in their last seven Saturday games. Carolina is traveling back east but catch a tough spot here as the Flyers are the better team and are at home.
