The Prudential Center and the New Jersey Devils host the Arizona Coyotes in Tuesday NHL hockey.
Winning on the road is tough in NHL hockey and especially so against a quality opponent and the Arizona Coyotes found that out in a 3-2 defeat versus the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden although I’m sure they knew it would be difficult. In a tight battle the Rangers snapped a 2-2 tie less then two minutes in to the final period on Dan Girardi’s goal with JT Miller and Josh Jooris also scoring to make the 27 save performance of Herik Lundqvist hold up. The Coyotes had both goals come from Radim Vrbata but goalie Louis Dominique absorbed the defeat on 23 saves.

The New Jersey Devils have always had the reputation of being stingy and winning the close ones and they did both in a 2-1, overtime decision versus visiting Minnesota on Saturday night. Taylor Hall was the offensive star with his game winning goal a mere 29 seconds in to the extra session to shell shock the Wild and overcome a 1-0 deficit. Minnesota scored first on Joel Eriksson Ek’s first career goal in his first NHL contest but Devan Dubnyk and his 30 stops still wasn’t enough. PA Parenteau evened the score at 1-1 with just 8:04 left in regulation while Corey Schneider picked up the win with 28 stops.
The Coyotes are 0-5 in their last 5 games playing on 1 days rest and the Coyotes are 0-4 in their last 4 overall while the under is 4-0 in Coyotes last 4 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game. The under is 4-0-1 in Devils last 5 overall and the under is 3-0-1 in Devils last 4 games following a win while the under is 4-0-1 in Devils last 5 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game. The under is 2-0-4 in the last 6 meetings and the under is 2-0-2 in the last 4 meetings in New Jersey while the Coyotes are 0-4 in the last 4 meetings.
The Devils have fared well in this match up but the Devils can be a tough bet if they depend on their goaltending to win games 2-1 or 3-2. Please check back when goalies and lines are released…
