The Colorado Avalanche meet the Arizona Coyotes at the Gila River Arena in NHL hockey action.
The Colorado Avalanche struggled at both ends of the ice at Florida and the result was a 5-2 defeat. The Panthers Shane Harper scored his first two career NHL goals with Aaron Ekblad also soring while Jonathan Marchessault and Vincent Trocheck each added a goal and an assist. That was more then enough for Florida goalie Roberto Luongo who recorded 28 stops to pick up the victory. The Avalanche received goals from Matt Duchene and Blake Comeau but that wasn’t enough for goalie Semyon Varlamov who made 28 saves. Colorado lost control of the game in the second period when the Panthers scored three times to take a 4-1 lead.

The Arizona Coyotes have won two game this season and both have come against the Flyers following Thursday’s 5-4 victory at the Wells Fargo Center. Martin Hanzal and Brad Richardson scored in the third to break a tied game. The Coyotes also received goals from Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Ryan White and Jamie McGinn which ended a six game road trip on a positive note. Zona netminder earned his first win and improved to 1-4. The Philadelphia offense came from Brayden Schenn, Andrew McDonald, Wayne Simmonds and Nick Cousins but that still wasn’t enough as Steve Mason was charged with all five goals on 25 shots.

The Avalanche have had the advantage in this match up and the over has hit often in Arizona but I’ll look deeper as I wait for goalies and a line…
