The Buffalo Sabres look to continue their recent success as they take to the road to face off against the Minnesota Wild.
The Sabres are a remarkable 5-0 on the road to start this season and will hope to see more away dates on their schedule coming up at this rate, but Tuesday night’s encounter will be tough as they are up against one of the home giants in the NHL, the Minnesota Wild. The Sabres have a bright, young roster and would be even better with former second overall pick Jack Eichel in the mix but thanks to an ugly ankle injury in the preseason the sophomore sensation will be out for a while and the team will have to find a way to win without him. Buffalo will likely send Robin Lehner to the crease here as he will match up against Devan Dubnyk who has recorded a very impressive three consecutive shutouts.
The Wild continue to prove they are among the best in the Western Conference and add even more competition to the Central division that sent five teams to the playoffs last year and they have as good a chance as any to be crowned division champs. The Wild always seem to elevate their game on home ice and so far this season they are a perfect 4-0 at the Xcel Energy Center and don’t play on breaking that streak now, though it does come against a Dan Bylsma-led Sabres group who has been excellent on the road this season.
The Sabres are 10-41 in their last 51 against the Central division and 2-7 in their last nine Tuesday games while the Wild are 4-1 in their last five following a win and 7-3 in their last 10 against the Atlantic. Buffalo has been a nice story so far but you can’t go against Dubnyk right as the Wild should get a win here in regulation.
