The Montreal Canadiens look to stay hot on home ice as they welcome the Vancouver Canucks to the Bell Centre on Wednesday.
The Canucks look to shake out of their losing ways as they face off against the league’s top team tonight and will have their work cut out for them in the offensive zone as Montreal has been excellent in their defensive zone, and course have Carey Price between the pipes. Vancouver got off to a nice start but have dropped four games in a row and are looking more like the team many expected to see in the preseason as this is a group that is going to battle all season long for a playoff spot. Vancouver has played most of their season at home so far and have lost their only game on the road while the Canadiens are 5-0-0 at home and are heavy favourites in this one. Ryan Miller is expected to get the start as he will face off against Carey Price in a battle of solid goaltenders.
USA TODAY Sports
The Canadiens have looked like Cup contenders to start the season and have followed up last year’s red hot start with another this year and will hope they can sustain this success for most of the season with a healthy Carey Price in the crease. Montreal has a very well balanced roster and have some of their important forwards gaining experience as the likes of Alex Galchenyuk and Brendan Gallagher are a year older and will be leaned on for a huge bulk of the offensive work load this season. Price meanwhile hasn’t skipped a beat and with a blue line group led by newcomer Shea Weber in front of him I think this team has potential to go on a serious playoff run.
The Canucks are 0-4 in their last four road games and 5-2 in their last seven Wednesday games while the Canadiens are 10-1 in their last 11 overall and 6-0 in their last six home games. Vancouver is in trouble here and I think the Canadiens keep it rolling with a regulation win.
