The Buffalo Sabres and New Jersey Devils complete their home and home set with a trip to the Swamp on Saturday night.
The Sabres spoiled a great opportunity to get a win at home against the Devils last night as they handed over their 1-0 lead and lost by a 2-1 final in overtime on the strength of an Andy Greene penalty shot. Buffalo will be in tough to get a win in this one as they take to the road to face the same Devils side who they lost to last night but this time away from home where they haven’t been nearly as effective over the years while the Devils are usually a tough out at home. It is unclear who will get the call in the Buffalo crease as Anders Nilsson got the nod last night so we can expect to see Robin Lehner here while the Devils might counter with Keith Kinkaid or stick with Corey Schneider.

The Devils clawed their way back into last night’s game and fully deserved the full two points as they played pretty well against a Sabres side who had been playing well at home and with the win the Devils improved to a modest 9-22 in their last 31 games against the Eastern Conference. New Jersey has been good at home though as they have won six of their last seven in their own building and stand to add to that with another big effort here against the Sabres who will surely be salty with how things finished last night.
The Sabres are 20-41 in their last 61 Saturday games and 3-10 in their last 13 in the second game of a home and home while the Devils are 1-5 in their last six against the Atlantic and 0-4 in their last four games in the back end of a home and home. Despite the ugly numbers, the Devils are the play here as they are a strong home ice team and have the edge in the crease
