NHL hockey comes to the American Airlines Center when the Colorado Avalanche visit the Dallas Stars.
The Colorado Avalanche played one of their more complete games of the season in a 4-1 win at the Pepsi Center versus the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night. The beleaguered Avalanche attack finally got untracked with Rene Bourque, Patrick Wiercioch, Blake Comeau and Gabriel Landeskog giving the team more then three goals for the first time in 12 games to help Semyon Varlamov to a much needed victory. The Kings have been in a funk as of late and have now dropped four in a row with Dustin Brown scoring the lone goal while Peter Budaj absorbing the defeat with a 26 save effort not being enough.

The Dallas Stars must know that overtime is not their friend following a 2-1, OT defeat to visiting New Jersey for their 5th consecutive loss in the extra session. Defense and goaltending ruled this contest as neither team was able to do much at the offensive end of the ice. Adam Henrique was the Devils offensive star with his tally a mere 44 seconds in to overtime on a feed from Kyle Palmieri. Damon Severson scored for New Jersey in the first and Cory Schneider recorded 23 saves to pick up the win. The Stars lone tally came off the stick of Patrick Eaves, also in the first but a 31 save performance from Antti Niemi went for naught as the Devils celebrated their 5th consecutive victory.
The Avalanche are 0-5 in their last 5 games following a win and the under is 6-1-1 in Avalanche last 8 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game while the Avalanche are 2-11 in their last 13 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game. The Stars are 0-7 in their last 7 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game and the Stars are 1-10 in their last 11 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game while the Stars are 1-6 in their last 7 vs. a team with a losing record. The over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings and the Avalanche are 9-2 in the last 11 meetings while the Avalanche are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Dallas.
The Avalanche have enjoyed the majority of success in this match up and the over has hit often but neither team sparks a fire in me…
