The New Jersey Devils visit the Staples Center to take the ice with the Los Angeles Kings in NHL hockey action.
If you spend any time watching the New Jersey Devils then you know not to expect a lot of flash as the team tends to grind things out in low scoring affairs on a nightly basis. We saw that Thursday versus Anaheim but it was the Ducks who got the job done in a 3-2 victory. Ryan Kessler scored with just 3:40 remaining in regulation with Jakob Silfverberg and Rickard Rakell also adding goals to make the 27 save effort of Jonathan Bernier a winner for the 5th time in six contests. New Jersey received goals from Devante Smith-Pelly and Kyle Quincey with Corey Schneider making 20 saves as a five game winning streak ended.

NHL hockey fans know the Los Angeles Kings have suffered a Lion’s Share of injures at goaltender which has obviously cost the team in the win column but the offense bailed them out Thursday in a 4-2 win versus visiting Edmonton. Jeff Carter’s shorthanded goal proved to be the game winner while Devin Setoguchi, Derek Forbert and Tyler Toffoli also found the back of the net in support of Peter Budaj who stopped 26 shots to help Los Angeles snap a four game slide. The Edmonton offense came off the sticks of Oscar Klefbom and Darnell Nurse but Jonas Gustavsson could not make it hold up with 21 saves as the Oilers have now dropped five in a row.
