The Line: Minnesota Wild / Colorado Avalanche --- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Minnesota Wild look to continue their strong defensive play as they welcome in the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night.
The Avs look to shake off a loss against the Stars in their last outing as they head into Minnesota to take on the Wild who are coming off another shutout win, this time against the Boston Bruins on Thursday. Colorado is off to a bit of a slow start this season and they haven’t quite lived up to expectations as many had them in the mix for a playoff spot this season, but so far they are showing signs of a broken roster and need to get back on track in a hurry. The Avs are led by a very talented trio up top as Matt Duchene, Gabriel Landeskog, and Nathan Mackinnon are all game changers and they will have to be sharp in this one as the Wild have been able to limit the opposition on the score board this season and Devan Dubnyk has been excellent.

The Wild meanwhile continued their strong start with a home win against the Boston Bruins and can extend their early season success against an Avs team that has struggled with consistency this season but does have a couple of big wins to their name. Minnesota has a very deep roster with a number of guys who can step up in the offensive zone but their bread and butter remains their defense and goaltending and that is going to be the difference in them making the playoff or not as they compete in the very difficult Central division. Dubnyk is expected to get the nod as he will face off against Semyon Varlamov in what should be an exciting battle on Saturday night.
The Avs are 7-15 in their last 22 overall and 1-4 in their last five road games while the Wild are 5-2 in their last seven home games and 1-5 in their last six against a team with a losing record. This should be a close game and with the way these goalies are playing I think it stays under the number.
