The fans at the Canadien Tire Centre will be treated to some great NHL hockey when the Florida Panthers visit the Ottawa Senators.
The Florida Panthers were full of confidence when they took the ice at Toronto on Thursday but were completely deflated at the final buzzer in a 6-1 defeat where neither end of the ice had anything positive going. The Maple Leafs could do no wrong with Connor Brown scoring twice with Mitch Marmer, Jake Gardiner and Leo Komarov also lighting the lamp to give plenty of support to goalie Frederik Anderson who recorded 26 stops to up his home record to 7-2. The Panthers lone goal came off the stick of Aaron Ekblad but former Toronto goalie James Reimer couldn’t keep the puck in front of him.

The Ottawa Senators have performed well so far in the early going and have the record to prove it but they took one squarely on the chin in a 5-1 loss to Nashville as their offense continues to sputter. Derick Brassard provided the only offense for the Senators who have not scored more then twice in eleven consecutive contests with Mike Condon absorbing the loss despite 35 stops. The Predators had no problem offensively with Ryan Ellis, Pontus Aberg, Colton Sissons, Mike Ribeiro and James Neal each finding the back of the net to give Pekka Rinne and his 30 stops plenty of support.
The over is 4-0 in Panthers last 4 road games and the Panthers are 4-0 in their last 4 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game while the over is 5-0-1 in Panthers last 6 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The over is 4-0 in Senators last 4 when their opponent allows 5 goals or more in their previous game and the under is 5-0 in Senators last 5 vs. Eastern Conference while the Senators are 7-0 in their last 7 games following a loss of 3 or more goals. The Panthers are 3-9 in the last 12 meetings in Ottawa and the under is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings in Ottawa while the under is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings.
The Senators have really done well against the Panthers and goals have been at a premium so I lean under until I see goalies…
