The Dallas Stars look to snap out of their ugly road losing ways as they head into St. Louis to take on the Blues on Monday night.

The Stars have stumbled out of the gate this season and have been a bit of a disappointment through the first month of the season as they had been considered a Western Conference favourite in some circles. Dallas has the offense to compete with anybody in the league as Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn make up one of the best tandems in the NHL but they will need a bit more support if they’re going to make a playoff push and it will have to be someone other than Ales Hemsky who will be sidelined for a big portion of the season due to injury. Dallas is expected to send Antii Niemi to the crease here as they play in the first game of a double header, and he will likely face off against Jake Allen who continues to log plenty of starts in this his first season as the teams every day starter.

The Blues meanwhile have been business as usual to start the season as they are right in the mix in the Central division with a 12-7-3 record and will look to make a statement at home against one of their biggest divisional threats. St. Louis has a ton of depth up top and one of the better blue line units in the league and if they can add a piece or two at the trade deadline they will be very tough to slow down as they have the big game experience and are coming off a pretty solid playoff run a season ago. Allen will be the x-factor for the Blues this season as he has demonstrated his worth in the early part of his career but this is his first season as an every game starter and will need to be sharp from start to finish.

The Stars are 20-6 in their last 26 games playing in two days rest and 2-12 in their last 14 games after allowing two goals or less in their previous game while the Blues are 5-1 in their last six overall and 19-9 in their last 28 against the Central. The line here is chalky but the Blues should get it done at home against a Stars side that will struggle to score here.
