The St. Louis Blues look to improve their disappointing road record as they head into the Staples Center to battle the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday.
The Blues look to shake off their road woes as they head into Los Angeles to take on the Kings on Thursday night who are looking to get back on the right track themselves in what has been a pretty disappointing start for both groups this season. St. Louis’ record at home has been their saving grace or else they’d be in a terrible spot right now so they are in a bit better position than the Kings in terms of overall mark but Los Angeles has the benefit of playing in an underachieving Pacific division that is completely wide open right now. St. Louis is 3-9 in their last 12 road games and have but five wins away from home all season long and with a 2-8 record in their last 10 games playing with a day’s rest they are in rough shape in this spot against a Kings side that usually very good at home.

Los Angeles was woeful in the defensive zone in their last outing but they have had some time to adjust and rectify those deficiencies and luckily for them under Brent Sutter they have done a great job in games after giving up five goals in their previous outing. The Kings have had their struggles against the Central division of late as they are 5-12 in their last 17 against that collection of teams and while they have some of the league’s top teams the Kings do match up well with many of them and will need to get back on track starting tonight. The Kings are expected to have Petr Budaj in the crease here as he will match up against Jake Allen who returns to the crease after a night off against the Bruins.
The Blues are 4-10 in their last 14 Thursday games and are 1-7 in their last eight road games against a home team with a winning percentage greater than .600 while the Kings are 6-2 in their last eight on two days rest and 6-1 in their last seven when their opponent allows five or more in their previous game. The Blues are a different team on the road and the Kings are getting desperate and I like them to get it done at home in this spot.
