CFBDave's PicksDave's College Football Free Pick Against The Spread 11/28/09 #11 Oklahoma State at Oklahoma

Oklahoma (6-5) vs #11 Oklahoma State (9-2)

Line: Oklahoma State +8

Oklahoma took a 41-13 beating last week at Texas Tech in a game that was every bit as lopsided as the score indicates. The Sooner offense managed just 310 yards and 16 first downs in the game compared to the Red Raiders 549 yards and 32 first downs. Texas Tech held the Sooners to 48 yards rushing with a 1.8 yards per running attempt average. Oklahoma controlled the ball for just 23 minutes in this game while their defense was on the field for 37 minutes.

Playing without injured quarterback Zac Robinson, Oklahoma State survived against Colorado last week 31-28. Robinson has a shoulder bruise and may play this weekend. Alex Tate started in his absence but went 0-9 passing in the first half. In comes Brandon Weeden who completed 10 of 15 passes for 168 yards and two touchdowns. It looks like Oklahoma State may have found their quarterback for 2010. The Cowboy defense held Colorado to 251 total yards including just 13 on the ground. Colorado had several scores with the aid of a short field and returned one kick for a score.

Oklahoma is 3-6-1 against the spread this season while Oklahoma State is 5-4-1

Oklahoma is 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 games

Oklahoma is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games against OSU

Oklahoma is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games against OSU

Oklahoma State is 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games

Oklahoma State is 8-3-1 in their last 12 road games

Oklahoma's 28th ranked offense (31.5 ppg) matches up against OSU's 33rd ranked defense (21.3 ppg)

Oklahoma State's 20th ranked offense (32.9 ppg) goes up against the 8th ranked Oklahoma defense (14.7 ppg)

Oklahoma covered the 10 point spread last year in a 61-41 win. The over under was 74.5.

Certainly the status of Zac Robinson makes a difference here. If he plays and is healthy, there is no reason why Oklahoma State can't win this game outright. The interesting match-up here is the Cowboy running game against the Sooner defense. Oklahoma State leads the Big 12 in rushing, gaining and average 203.5 yards per contest on the ground. The Oklahoma defense ranks 8th nationally in giving up just 91 yards per contest. If Oklahoma has some success with Keith Toston on the ground, Oklahoma will be hard pressed to match them. I expect Oklahoma's offense troubles to continue as they battle injuries and a good Cowboy defense. I would not be surprised at all if this is an outright OSU win.

Dave's Pick: Oklahoma State +8
