Hi I'm Mitch. Many of you may have read my newsletter I did for about 10 years or have seen me around the college football sites on the Internet. I finally took everyone's advice and moved my writing to the web and as all of you predicted, I really enjoy it.
As you all know I'm an avid football fan who happens to also posses the memory of an elephant. I've also been known to talk a good game but also have always been known as one not afraid to put my money where my mouth is. While I have certainly had my share of wins and losses I've been able to make it work by knowing when to play it big and when to play it small. While both of these strategies have hurt me in the past from time to time we've always managed to weather the storm and have an uncanny record of coming out on top by the time they're handing out the National Championship Trophy.
A few other things:
1. I'm a die hard Miami Hurricanes fan who bleeds Orange and Green but can be honest about it and I try and be as objective as I can be.
2. I like to talk a lot about eating pizza and Ice cream which I do eat constantly. I also run 7 miles a day.
3. My wife's Grandfather played for Ohio State as a QB in some of their more remarkable games on some of their best teams. It's a tough one for me.
4. Although I was born and raised in Miami and never saw snow until I was 15 years old I live in Chicago and yes its freezing and no, you don't get used to it.
5. I watch Pro Football but not nearly as much as I used to. I'm the guy everyone calls to find out who the rookies are they should be drafting for their Fantasy Football Teams.
6. I don't like Pro Football as much anymore because I like Defense too much and the NFL Rules don't allow pass coverage. Ever notice that more QB's get injured every year? It's because the guys aren't allowed to cover ( it's a penalty) so Defensive Coordinators send everyone on a blitz on every play. Just let the guys cover a receiver, if you cut out a few commercials and add back time to the game you'll get points.
In August of 2008 an article (which you can find in it's entirety on my blog) was posted by me to the Bleacher Report who in turn submitted it to Fox who edited it like crazy but put together a nice 10 page slide show. This article appeared on the top and front of their entire sports section for over a week. I act like it isn't a big deal but I'm pretty proud of it. I got a ton of comments as they edited out what the article was really about but I guess that's life when you give away your content like I did and still do pretty often.
In Late September of 2008, I was interviewed by one of the top Bloggers on the Internet, Yaro Starak, for a podcast on his blog Entrepreneurs-Journey.com about how this site , The College Football Place, went from a standing start to over 3,000 visitors a day in just a few months. I have way more visitors than that now but it was fun to do the interview and Yaro is a great guy. It was also fun to be considered an "inspiration" to other bloggers though I'm really just some guy who watches a ton of College Football.
