The City of Manchester will come to a grinding halt tomorrow when City meet United in the biggest game of the Premier League weekend. Manchester City went away to Victoria Plezen midweek and took a comfortable 3-0 victory in the opening round of the Champions League, it was an important win for City and one that laid down a marker for progress in the tournament later. City have deep resources and a top class strike force, with Sergio Aguero, Eden Dzeko, Negredo and Jovetich there is an abundance of goalscoring talent. To go with those top class strikers City also have Ya Ya Toure, David Silva in midfield and are led from teh back by Captain Vincent Kompany. Overall City have great players in almost every position, the team is playing well and the City of Manchester Stadium has been something of a fortress for the team over the last couple of seasons.
Derby days in Manchester are special and for the majority of the last thirty years there has only really been one successful side and although Manchester City are now competing and have won a league title and FA Cup, Manchester United ar undoubtedly the kingpins of English football and are the current Premier League Champions. David Moyes will get his first taste of the Manchester Derby in what is sure to be an intimidating atmosphere but with Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie firing on all cylinders there is an optimism creeping through Manchester United fans and probably rightly so. United have only conceded two goals so far this year and the defensive partnership of captain nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand have looked very solid and back to their best.
Generally speaking these big games rarely live up to the pre game hype. Both teams look capable of scoring goals and there is an array of talent on the park tomorrow. I'm taking both teams to score here as I think we have some of the best strikers in the premier league and given a couple of chances I think they will take at least one each. For me I think this one probably ends in a draw but the price about Manchester United is very enticing. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
