The only unbeaten team in the Barclays Premier League , Everton, take on Newcastle United at Goodison Park on Monday night football. A home fixture is exactly what the doctor ordered for Everton after losing midweek against Fulham in the Carling Cup. Manager Roberto Martinez will look for his side to continue the solid start they have had to the season and for his defence to keep up their mean streak at home where they are one win and one draw with zero goals conceded. The defence also provided the offensive spark last week with Leighton Baines nailing two free kicks to get Everton back into the game. Everton went on to win 3-2 with a terrific header from Lukaku.
Newcastle United have been jeckyl and hyde this season they led twice last week against Hull City at home but ended up losing the game 3-2. The pretty brilliant french man Loic Remy , who is on loan from QPR, scored twice and looked good. Alan Pardew will need more of the same from Remy and Ben Arfa as Papa Cisse struggles to find his goal scoring boots. Its hard to judge whether Newcastle are good or bad given their performances so far this season. A bad loss at Manchester City was followed by a draw at home against West Ham and then two good wins against Fulham and Villa but followed that up with a strange loss against Hull City.
The game is a good match up, Martinez and Everton have shown great resiliance thus far and have picked up impressive wins against Chelsea and West Ham. I'm on the Toffee train here as I am taking Everton to get the win at home. For those looking for a little more gamble I'm going to take Everton to win 2-1 on the correct score market.
