The gambling game can be a cruel world and if you spent this season trying to win money on the results of Aston Villa games then good luck to you. Villa have just been ridiculously inconsistant all year and its been a tough spot to call on most game weeks, /but hey this is why we do it, to figure out the difficult games and profit on them. Paul Lambert has assembled a good young side at Villa Park and the team has been dealing with some injuries especially missing star man Christian Bentke for the guts of a month. Bentke though is back and although he hasnt found the net since September his all ropund play up front has been improving and he looked back to his imposng self in the second half against West Brom last Monday night.
Sunderland were in a deperate position when gus Poyet took over bottom of the table with one point and looking lost. Since Poyet took over things have turned around somewhat two wins against Newcastle and Manchester City and a win in the league cup over Southampton has given some belief to the fansof the Black Cats that all hope is not lost. Sunderland's away form though has still been poor, having lost five of six this season away from the Stadium of light it will be something that Poyet looks to improve moving forward. Scoring goals away from home has been their downfall in general and a trip to Villa Park may just be what the doctor ordered as Villa have conceded in five of their six home games so far this year.
Like i mentioned previously Villa have been tough to read this year, a jekyl and hyde team that can be summised by their first and second half performances on Monday night. Awful in the first half , excellant in the second. But I'm going to take a chance here. I like this Villa team, I like Christian Benteke and I know Villa Park will be rocking tomorrow as it always is on home games. I'm taking Aston Villa to get a win over a Sunderland side who at the moment jsut have too many defensive deficiencies to win away games. Take Villa. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
