The bluebirds (Cardiff City) are rooted to the bottom of the Barclays Premier League and a trip to Old Trafford will see former Manchester United player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer get his first taste of management in the theathre of dreams but in the opposition dressing room. Cardiff pulled off a shock draw when playing Manchester United in November, a 92nd minute equaliser by Kim stunned United and no doubt the Cardiff team will be trying to pull off another shock on Tuesday night. With Campbell, Bellamy, Kim and Mutch there is some attacking talent for Solskjaer to build on. Can Cardiff pull off a shock in Old Trafford?
New signing Juan Mata could make his debut on tuesday alongside Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney, who are both due to return from injury. If this happens the United crowd will get their first taste of the future. The signing of Mata has all the hallmarks of the club backing David Moyes to be the main man. Mata is a superb player, technically terrific and amazing vision which will provide the creative spark that has been missing in Manchester's approach play all year. Its an exciting signing for both United fans and fans of the league as this one player could provide the missing ingredient to make United competitive immediately.
Manchester United need to bounce back from their surprise loss to Sunderland in the League Cup and a game against rock bottom Cardiff is probably as good as United could have asked for. I fully expect United to dominate this game and to win it by at least a couple. If Van Persie and or Rooney play I'm expecting United to coast to a victory by two or more goals. I'm taking Manchester United -1 on the handicap and would even stretch to the -2 line if necessary, this feels like a 3-0 game to me! Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
