All that can be said about Arsenal's loss at the weekend is that it was more of a freak result than anything else. Liverpool got on top early and exploited Arsenal's defensive lapses clinically. Mertesacker and Koscielny were at sea for most of the first twenty minutes and Arsenal's midfield seemed to go missing. In particular Ozil and Arteta were particularly uneffective and poor. Arsene Wenger will know that the team must push on and will look to get a win here at home against great rivals Manchester United. There probably isnt going to be a better time for Arsenal or anyone to meet United as the Champions are out of sorts and playing particularly poorly at the moment. Look for Wenger and Arsenal to use Oxlade Chamberlain to exploit United's defensive frailties but the only question will be has Liverpool's defeat and the manner of the defeat left any psychological wounds on the gunners?
Things cant get much worse for David Moyes, never in the history of the Premier League has a team enjoyed as much possession and crossed as many crosses in a game as Manchester United did last Sunday against Fulham. Having turned a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead there was yet another brain fart by the team defensively and Fulham equalised, four minutes into injury time and with their fourth attack of the game. On paper there are not many teams better than United in the league, Rooney, Mata, VanPersie, Carrick, Hernandez, Januzai, Wellbeck, Vidic, Evra, De Gea, its a who's who or world football on both the international and club stage. There is no doubt that United are under performing but a trip to the Emirates will surely be the perfect game to fire up the passions and maybe re ignite a season that is turning into a car crash for David Moyes and the club as a whole.
Honestly this game is one of those one's I would perfer to sit back and watch than handicap. I have a strong feeling that United will pick something up here, Arsenal will definitely be looking to bounce back from the loss to Liverpool but likewise United will feel hard done by in not picking up all three points against Fulham. I think they cancel each other out here and I'm going to back the draw. Its not a strong pick though and I will be sitting into enjoy this one as there should be lots of tension on display and two teams that have no love for each other. Although I do have a sneaky feeling that Robin Van Persie might just net himself a winner against his old club. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
