Liverpool put in a terrific performance last weekend destroying Arsenal in a lightning start scoring four goals in the first twenty minutes. Brendan Rodgers team has looked adaptable and capable of adjusting to the situation in the last few weeks. The pace and trickery of Sturridge and Suarez has undone most teams this year and with Philip Couthino pulling the strings in midfield Liverpool now look capable of taking on the bigger teams and competing for the league title. But with that said Liverpool's away form has been poor 5-4-4 in thirteen games and one of those wins came against Fulham last week where they only won the game in the 92nd minute with a rash challenge and a penalty being awarded. Captain Stephen Gerrard will be looking for his side to continue the form that has forced their way into a title challenge but a trip to the Emirates to take on a wounded Arsenal will be a tough one to over come.
Having dropped points in both of their last two games Arsene Wenger's team will be eager to make amends. Arsenal will definitely be looking to exact some revenge on a Liverpool team that embaressed them in Anfield last weekend. There is no doubting the quality in Arsenals team withOzil, Cazorla, Podolski, Oxlade Chamberlain, Wilshire and Giroud but Wenger does have a rather huge Champions League game with Bayern Munich coming up midweek and surely the Arsenal boss must consider resting some of his stars in this game as it is the Fa Cup and not the league. There have been lots of soundbites coming from Arsenal this week about revenge and showing their real colours this weekend but the question has to be asked was last weeks result a fluke or was that Arsenal's real colours. The Gunners had a chance to follow up the result with a win when they faced an out of sorts Manchester United but they struggled for long periods against United and the fact that Arsenal's goalkeeper got the man of the match award tells its own story.
This is one of the ties of the round and the FA Cup has a storied place in the hearts of both sets of fans. Liverpool will look at this as the only realistic chance of silverware while Arsene Wenger and Arsenal may look at this game in a similar light with the team struggling to hang onto Chelsea and Man City in the league and facing a really tough tie against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. Arsenal at home have been terrific all season but they really took a beating at the hands of Liverpool last week, the team looked a little scared against Manchester United midweek and I think they were afraid to lose. Will their midset be the same tomorrow? I cant be 100% but I think Arsenal will be in a better place this weekend and I think they will beat Liverpool but I think both teams will hit the net and I think this game goes over the 2.5 goal mark.
