David Moyes time at Manchester United thus far has been tumultous to say the least, last year's Premier League Champions are currently sitting seventh in the league table and have lost eight games this year. With just the Champions League to concentrate on though maybe Manchester United can save their season with a run in the famous competition. Having been handed what appears to be the easiest draw in the last sixteen , United and their manager will be looking to take advantage. Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie will be key for United as they face a tough team in Olympiakos. Defensively United have looked much better of late with captain Vidic in the center of defence orchastrating things. This will be Vidic's last year in Manchester can he be the first captain to ever lead them to two Champions League titles?
Olympiakos have had a sensational domestic leage so far this year, sitting atop the league table with a twenty point advantage and unbeaten so far this season. The team sold top striker Mitoglou to Fulham during the transfer window but brought in Scepovic and he has netted four goals in eight games. Veteran journeyman Saviola has found the net eleven times this term and will provide some trickery and pace to the Olympiacos offence. One to keep an eye on will be young Joel Campbell on loan at Olympiakos from Arsenal.
A tougher game than many think and one that Olympiakos will be relishing. While Olympiakos were well beaten by PSG earlier in the Group stage of the Champions League the home side will definitely be up for this one. Manchester United have nothing but the Champions League left to concentrate on and while winning the competition is a big ask United simply must get through this round in order to stabilise Moyes first season at Old Trafford. I think this game will be a turning point for United and I'm expecting a big performance here. United's best performances this season have come in the Champions League and getting 5/4 on the English Champions I am willing to back them to get a victory in a hostile atmosphere. Rooney and RVP will be the difference at the end of the 90 minutes I feel, much like they were last weekend against Crystal Palace. follow me on twitter@antonpippo
