Last week's loss to Chelsea will have hurt Roberto Martinez and his team as for the entire game Everton were the better team, unfortunately though for the toffees a small lapse in concentration in the last minute allowed Chelsea to nick a winner. With Everton returning to Goodison Park there will be optimism among the home support as the team has been virtually unbeatable at home. Romalu Lukaku will be back to tlead the line up front for Everton as well. The young Belgian missed out last week against Chelsea as he could not play against the team that loaned him to Everton. Rumour has it Everton want to make the loan deal permanent in the summer but whether the blues can afford his services is another question worth deliberating at another time. Mirallas and Lukaku have been terrific this season with the fullbacks Baines and Coleman also in terrific form and McCarthy and Barry dictating the pace of the games from midfield all things look bright for the future of Everton football club if they can hang onto this core of young players (with Barry being th eexperience)
West Ham went from relegation candidates to the top half of the league in a remarkable five game turnaround winning four but it all started with a heroic perfomance at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea. Sam Allardyce had been favourite for the chop prior to the game against Chelsea but his captain Kevin Nolan has really put things together in the last five games netting five goals in those five games and being the inspiration behind those victories. The return of Andy Carroll can only be seen as a good thing as well as the Hammers will look to build on their good form.
I fancy this game to be a ding dong battle, generally Everton play attractive passing football and while West Ham are a physical team they can play with the ball on the ground as well. I think there will be some goals here as we see two teams with plenty of attacking talent especially in the midfield area where Mirallas, Pienaar, Nolan, Downing can all contribute.
