Two teams in the Premier League have won their last five league games, the league leaders Liverpool and Cyrstal Palace. An amazing stat, considering Palace's schedule over those five games included a home game with Chelsea and an away game with Everton. Tony Pulis has to be considered one of the front runners for manager of the year, the former Stoke City boss has turned Crystal Palace's season right around and Palace are now safe from the relegation battle and likely to finish in the top ten in the league. Crystal Palace's success has been built on solid defence. Eight of the last ten games Palace have been involved in have gone under the 2.5 goal mark. Jason Puncheon, Ince, Ledley and Chamakh will be the key figures in trying to break down Manchester City's defence.
For Manchester City they simply put must win the next four games. Injuries to David Silva and Ya Ya toure have left Manchester City relying on squad strength in the title run in. Lucky for Manchester City fans this squad is the strongest in the league, in will come negredo, jovetich, Garcia or Dzeko. Manuel Pelligrini has ridiculous strength in depth but that will count for nothing if City can not break down Palace tomorrow. Sergio Aguero arriving back has strengthened City's hand immeasurably as the little argentine is one of the best footballers on the planet.
This game is a tougher one to handicap than most would imagine. While Manchester City look like they should have the squad strength to win they are facing one of the most in form teams in the league. Likewise the unders looks a very solid bet when taking into account Palace's recent games. I think that Crystal Palace will keep this one tight for a long time and I would say that this will be a war of attrition and patience on Manchester City's part. I am taking draw at halftime in this one as I think Man City may eventually break down Palace but it could talk an hour or more to get it done. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
