Liverpool have been on a march towards a league title since Christmas, Brendan Rodgers team have now won eleven games in a row and a win tomorrow will all but seal a ninteenth league title for the merseysiders. Stephen Gerrard will lead his team out tomorrow knowing that a win against rivals Chelsea will give him that elusive title medal, if anyone in the Premier League deserves one its Gerrard so neutrals throughout the world will be hoping for a Liverpool victory. Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge have been the key players all season scoring over fifty goals between the two of them. There is no doubt that both players have benefitted from playing in Brendan Rodgers system and the pace of Raheem Sterling on the wing has definitely contributed to the success of the front two. Can Suarez and Sturridge get the better of Chelsea's back four tomorrow?
Chelsea have a huge game next Wednesday against Athletico Madrid the winner will reach the Champions League finals and rumours abound this week that Jose Mourhino plans to name aweakened side tomorrow against Liverpool. Given that the league title is out of Chelsea's own hands as even if they beat Liverpool on Sunday they will still be two points behind the reds. A win though for Chelsea would give Manchester City the chance to catch Liverpool and I guess the only question will be whether Mourhino sends afull strength team out. Chelsea though have a very strong panel and would call on the likes of Torres, Ba, Salah, Lampard, Ashley Cole from their reserves if Mourhino was to rest a few players.
When the two played in Stamford Bridge Chelsea were so comfortable in their 2-1 win that its hard for me to go with Liverpool but I do think that momentum is with the reds. I think Mourhino though is more than capable of upsetting the title chasing Liverpool and with ex players from both sides (Sturridge ex-chelsea, torres ex -liverpool) there should be some interesting side stories on Sunday. I am thinking both teams will find the net here and thats my pick. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
