As the Spanish league winds down it appears as if no one wants to take the driving seat. All three team Barcelona, Athletico Madrid and Real Madrid dropped points last weekend and Real Madrid followed that up with dropping two more points midweek. The title is actually now back in Barcelona's hands. Win their last two games and Barcelona will be crowned Champions. That would be an amazing finish for a team that has had what many would consider a poor season to this point. Lionel Messi has netted twenty eight goals in the league but has had a "bad season" well bad by Messi's standards, ridiculously good by normal people standards. With Messi , Pedro, Sanchez and Neymar there should be enough attacking talent on display to bring the league title to the last week but Elche are not going to be beaten easily. Elche are still in a relegation battle and a loss tomorrow could lead them needing a win in on the last game of the season.
Elche will look to Boakye, Coro and Herrera to provide the spark up front against a Barcelona team that have really struggled defensively of late. But for Elche their great home form has been based on a solid defence. Elche have only conceded twice in their last nine home games. Elche's home form will be responsable for their survival if they do indeed survive and tomorrow they face a potent Barcelona side but one that has been misfiring of late.
Interesting game here. Barcelona now really do have something to play for. After struggling the last few weeks it appeared as if the league title had slipped away from Barcelona but a loss for Athletico Madrid and two draws for Real Madrid have let the Barca team back into the title race and with Lionel Messi in their side Barcelona for me should now be considered favourites. I just think that Barcelona are not going to get this last chance slip by. I think that Messi and co will get a win tomorrow against Elche and set themselves up for a winner take all showdown against Athletico Madrid next week. Although all the stats point to unders here with Elche having gone under in their last nine games at home I am still taking the over. I think Barcelona will want to make sure here and I see them scoring three or four. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
