Arsenal travel to Wembley to take on Hull City with all the pressure firmly on their shoulders. Arsene Wenger's side have failed to capture a trophy in nine years and the Gunners imply must take home the silverware on Saturday evening. Arsenal will be looking to Aaron Ramsey, Mezut Ozil, Jack Wilshire, Olivier Giroud, Lucas Podolski and Santi Cazorla to lead the way as Arsenal's attacking players just look too hot to handle for a Hull team that have lost four of their last five. Arsenal though have looked susceptable to buckling under the pressure as it took extra time and penalties to get past Wigan in the semi final of this competition. If Arsenal lose this cup final it will surely be the end of the road for Arsene Wenger so will his team respond with a memorable day out in Wembley?
Hull city are on a flyer here with nothing to lose, the tigers come into this game as 6/1 outsiders and Steve Bruce will know his side on their day are more than capable of turning Arsenal over. A couple of notable absentees for the Tigers will be Jelavich and Long who are both cup tied and it makes Hull's accomplishments of reaching the final all that more impressive. Robbie Brady the young Irish international who had such a good start to the season for Hull is a surprise inclusion in the squad as he returned from groin surgery earlier than expected. Hull will pack the midfield and work hard to disrupt Arsenals passing system, Livermore, Huddlestone and Meyler will be charged with this job and they are more than capable of making things uncomfortable for the Arsenal team.
I expect this to be a true cup final with lots of nerves and some mistakes early. I think though that as both teams settle down Arsenal will find a way to eventually outgun the minnows but not without a shock. I'm going to take both teams to score as I see Arsenal's defence coughing up at least one mistake in the afternoon. This should be an enjoyable game to end the English season and look ahead to the upcoming World Cup which we will cover in full here at Sports Chat Place and we will be starting our group previews on Monday 19th May, keep an eye out on twitter and the website for all the latest soccer news and reviews.
