Star Man: Mezut Ozil

Manager: Joachim Lowe
Germany seem to always progress through the Group stages and this is a talent bunch of players with Joachim Lower able to call upon the pick of the Bayern Munich side that dominated Europe in 2013. Thomas Muller, Manuel Neur, Bastian Schweinsteiger will be leading the way for Germany who will look to Arsenal's Mezut Ozil to provide the inspiration from the midfield. Germany will miss Marco Reus who was ruled out of the tournament after damaging his ankle in a friendly last week. Even missing Reus the Germans will still expect to win the Group but with such a competitive Group this one will probably go down to the last game.
Prediction for Group: Group Runners Up
Star Man: Asamough
Manager: K Appiah
Expectations:One of the interesting subplots to this group will be the meeting of the Boatang brothers playing for different sides in the same Group as Kevin declared for Ghana and his brother Jerome will line up for Germany. Ghana are a strong physical side and with Essien, Asamough and Boateng their midfield will not be short of hard work or persistance. Gyan and the Ayew brothers up front will be key to scoring the goals to qualify if Ghana can pull off a huge shock and knock out one of the European superppowers. I think though that Ghana's suspect defence will probably let them down here and predict a Group Exit for the black eagles.
Prediction: Group Exit
Star Man: Cristiano Ronaldo
Manager: Paulo Bento
Portugal are tough to beat. They have gone out of the last couple of tournaments on penalties and both times to the winners of the tournament Portugal have a very talented squad with Nani, Velosa, Mouthino and of course the best player on the planet right now Cristiano Ronaldo. There will be alot of pressure on Ronaldo who finally delivered La Decima to Real Madrid this past season. Ronaldo will want to improve his personal tally in World Cup's havng ony scored a couple in two competition. This is a tough group but this is a tough Portugese side and I think that they could very well upset Germany in the first game and win this group at a big price. I am going to take Ronaldo and co to do just that.
Prediction: Group Winners
Star Man: Clint Dempsey
Manager: Jurgen Klinsmann
Another of the interesting subplots see's Germany's former favourite son Jurgen Klinsmann lead the USA against his home country. Klinsmann has already caused some controversy leaving Landon Donovan back in the states and to be honest I think that behind France leaving Nasri off their squad this was the biggest squad shock. Why did Klinsmann do it? I have no idea, I can not comprehend how he is justifying brining Jose Altidore and leaving Donovan out. Its sheer madness to me. That aside the US will fight gamely here and they definitely wont roll over but the quality is just not there. Seattle Sounders Clint Dempsey will be the focal point for the Us but the key man may actually turn out to be goalkeeper Tim Howard from Everton. The US are going to spend most of their time on the backfoot in this group so Howard and the defence will be busy. I think the US may cause a shock in one of the games by getting a draw against one of the Europeans but I think that it will be all in vain in the end. Group Exit looming.
Prediction: Group Exit
