Switzerland and France will square off Friday afternoon in a World Cup match that will advance the winner to the next round.
It looked like Switzerland was going to be forced to settle for the draw against Ecuador before Haris Seferovic scored the game-winning goal with just seconds remaining in the match. A heartbreaker for Ecuador, a confidence and momentum boost for Switzerland heading into this match. Ricardo Rodriguez admitted after the match that the victory has his team feeling a moral boost, while Johan Djourou knows there’s still work that needs to be done. Switzerland did struggle at times with the pace of Ecuador, and looked stagnant on offense for much of the match. However, the quick substitutions and guys who can contribute off the bench is a huge advantage for Switzerland.

France creamed Horrendous from start to finish, winning the match a convincing, 3-0. Honestly, France could have scored many more goals if it didn’t take its foot off the gas a bit later in the match. Karim Benzema scored two goals in the win. If the Real Madrid star can give France that type of production throughout the tournament, you’re looking at a team that can beat anybody. France didn’t show any main weaknesses in its first match, which is scary. However, all of that could change in a step up in competition against Switzerland.
I think it’s no secret who the better team in this match is. France dominated its first match and that was without Olivier Giroud doing much. Switzerland isn’t aggressive and doesn’t have enough horses to compete if the French get going again on the offensive end.
The price is actually fairly how considering how these two teams match up. I expect the French to get the victory and to move onto the next round.
