Cameroon and Brazil will play in the World Cup on Monday, a matchup that is big for the host country.
Cameroonlost its first two matches to Mexico and Croatia, eliminating itself from any possibility of advancing to the next round. The frustration is clearly there for Cameroon, as Alex Song was ejected from the last game and Benoît Assou-Ekotto head-butted his own teammate. Samuel Eto’o, Cameroon’s best player, is ruled doubtful for this matchup with an injury. Cameroon played absolutely no defense in its loss to Croatia, allowing 21 shots and 14 shots on goal. It’s clear this team is mentally exhausted and may not have much in the tank for this match. However, with Cameroon having nothing to lose, they’re always a dangerous team that can surprise some people.

Brazil was forced to settle for a draw against Mexico, but could have easily won the match with one or two goals. Brazil got several shots on goal, but Mexican goalie Guillermo Ochoa was a brick wall throughout the match and came up with ridiculous save one after another. Brazil is still playing super aggressive offensively with Neymar leading the charge, but their defense has made the difference in this tournament so far, as they’ve allowed just one goal in their first two matches. Mexico got only three shots on goal in its last match. Look for Oscar to have a big game in this match.
This seems like the game where Brazil finally plays to its potential and gets a convincing win with so much on the line. Cameroon has appeared to check out and doesn’t have the firepower at either end of the field to keep up.
However, we’re getting great value with Cameroon and the points. While Cameroon doesn’t have much of a shot to win this match, it’s pride and hopes of ending the World Cup on a positive note should keep this matchup within a couple of goals.
