So far the World Cup has been lit up by a few teams and two of them come head to head on Monday when Chile and the Netherlands clash at Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo. Both teams have been sensational and both have won their two games so far. At the moment the Netherlands top the group on Goal difference after their 5-1 thrashing of Spain. There is alot at stake here in this final group game as the loser will more than likely face off against Brazil in the knockout stages so we could be in for a hum dinger of a game in Sao Paulo even though both teams are definitey going through. The Netherlands attack has been on fire with both Robin Van Persie and Arjen Robben on three goals apiece for the tournament. Louis Van Gaal has shown himself to be flexible on his approach to games and he has changed formation a couple of times to better suit his team's needs. This type of progressive leadership could be key if the Netherlands are to finally land a World Cup title! WIth Sneijder, Van Persie and Robben the experience is there and the ability. This could be the dutch's year but first they must navigate this tricky encounter with Chile. A draw is enough for the dutch to top the group but I just cant see them going for a draw with their attacking talent.
In the second game of the Group Chile took on Spain and dominated them, the 2-0 scorelne was actually flattering to the Spanish. With an attacking trio similar to the dutch Vidal Arturo, Alexis Sanchez and Vargas will create plenty of chances the only question then will be can they take them! At the bakc though Chile have a real leader in Goalkeeper Bravo who was particular brilliant against the Spanish. I do see a weakness in this Chile team though it is at center half where the Chileans have been playing Gary Medel as a center half I think this is a risk, the Cardiff midfielder is often too impetuos and playing against Robben and Van Persie this could lead to problems for the Chileans.
I am really really looking forward to this game. It almost feels like the knockout stage and I am hoping that both teams show up and just go for it. Loving the way the dutch are playing this tournament and fancy them to go a long long way. I do fancy the Netherlands to get what they need to win the Group here but not sure whether that will be a point or a win. Either way I am taking the overs. With this much attacking talent on display I just cant see how this one stays under 3 goals. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
