Colombia can hardly be described as a surprise package, coming into this tournament they had the second best qualifying in South America just behind Argentina and had one of the top strikers on the planet in Ramadal Falcao. Unfortunately for both Falcao and Colombia the striker damaged a knee for Monaco and was unable to make the squad but to be fair to the Country they havent missed a beat. Three games, three wins, nine points and nine goals. James Rodriguez is showing the world why Monaco paid so much money for an untested youth, Jackson Martinez found his scoring boots from his club form and overall Colombia are just exciting to watch and really look like they are here on business.
There is no doubt that no matter what happens for Uruguay on Saturday the absence of Luis Suarez will be huge, the striker is suspended for four months from all football activities for biting his Italian counterpart Chielini in the last group game. This is the third time Suarez has put his teeth into an opponent and although some say the punishment is too leniant I think missing a World Cup in your prime is going to be a bitter pillow to swallow. Without Suarez though Uruguay still have a strong squad, PSG striker Edison Cavani will lead the line up front and Diego Godin will marshall the backline just as he does for Athletico Madrid.
I'm just going to keep this one simple, Colombia for me are the far better team. I know South American games can get testy at times and there is no doubt there will be some physical confrontations but with the better players and team I think Colombia come away from this game convincing winners. Uruguay without Suarez just are not the same as seen in the Costa Rica game and although I think Uruguay fight till the end I think they will succumb to a better side here.
