Manchester City and Stoke City will meet Saturday at Etihad Stadium for the third round of the English Premier League.
Manchester City enters this match feeling really good about itself after picking up a monster victory over Liverpool earlier this week. The victory certainly made up for its upsetting loss against Arsenal, as Liverpool is one of the better teams the Premier League has to offer. Manchester United is pretty much the same team it was a season ago, but the return of Stevan Jovetic has paid off in a big way, as the 24-year-old already has two goals. Jovetic missed much of last season with constant injuries and was held to just six goals. Speaking of injuries, there’s a decent chance Manchester City will be without star Edin Dzeko, who suffered a leg injury on Monday. Of course, this is a team that’s already without Alvaro Negredo.

Stoke City would love nothing more than to pull off an upset in this match after getting off to a lousy start to the season. Stoke suffered an embarrassing loss to Aston Villa and settled for an unimpressive draw last week against Hull City. However, maybe a blowout victory over Portsmouth in the Capital One Cup was just the trick Stoke needed in order to head into this match with some confidence. However, in order to pull off the key upset, Stoke City will have to do so without key defender Geoff Cameron, who has been ruled out of this game with a strain injury. Manager Mark Hughes will certainly have to do some tweaking to the lineup heading into this match. Stoke City has been outscored 6-1 in the last five times these two teams have player one another.
There’s no value at all in picking Manchester United to win this game with odds of -526. However, I think there’s little doubt that United gets the job done. That’s why I’m taking Manchester and the chalk, as I see this match ending with a score of 3-0.
