This is one of those games where everyone and their mother will be on the away side but for me this smells like a trap game. APOEL are not a bad side and have put together quite an impressive string of results. Former Liverpool fullback John Arne Riise has recently signed, as has former Celtic striker Cillian Sheridan. There is a flavour of portugese and brazilian throughout the squad and the impressive Manduca up front will give the PSG backline something to think about. Manduca has netted five in six games this year and APOEL were only just beaten in the Nou Camp in the first round of Champions League fixtures, losing the game 1-0.
PSG have had a stuttering start to the league and although they defeated Barcelona 3-2 in the last set of Champions League fixtures there is still no Ibrahimovich(injured) or Lavezzi and Edison Cavani just has not been in good form this year. The Uruguayian finally found the net on Friday net all be it from the penalty spot and then was sent off for his celebrations but overall Laurent Blanc has to be worried by the team's inability to put away the minnows and this is exactly why I fear this game from a PSG perspective. The return of injured captain Thiago Silva will help PSG at the back but I still think this game represents a much bigger challenge that the bookmakers are anticipating.
Taking APOEL +2 on the handicap here, I really think the Cypriots can give PSG a great game here and I think they will be very compact and hard to break down. I like what APOEL's manager Donis is doing at the cypriot club and I am sure it wont be long until we see APOEL break into the knockout stages of the competitiong. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
