Andre Villa Boas took over a Zenit side that were struggling for form and looked out of their depth in Europe. The former Port/Chelsea and Spurs manager has turned things around in a big way. No playing expansive attractive football Zenit look like a team capable of competing with the big boys in Europe, Hulk looks a completely different player under Villa Boas than the one who lumbered around the pitch in Brazil this summer. Alex Witsel looks like the player that promised so much early in his career, andrei Arshavin is even having a rejuvenation of his career and Javi Garcia seems to have found a manager that appreciates his versatility and importance to a team he plays in.In short Zenit look good right now.
Bayer Leverkusen started the season like a house on fire beating Borrusia Dortmund in Dortmund in the opening week. Things have kind of started to fall apart for Leverkusen though and they have only won two of their next nine with five draws. With Kiebling struggling to find the net, Son is picking up most of the slack with five goals this season already but really Leverkusen need more from Kiebling. At home Bayer will be expecting a win but this is going to be a tough game playing against a Zenit team that are bang in form.
I like the draw here I think Zenit can get something out of this one and I just really like how the Russians have been playing this season. With Bayer Leverkusen drawing five of the last nine it wouldnt be a surprise really if they home side failed to press home the advantage. Take the draw and follow me on twitter@antonpipppo
