With fifteen league goals this year Cristiano Ronaldo has scored more League goals than Liverpool have as a club. Thats the ridiculous pace that Ronaldo has set this year in La Liga and he has scored three in two Champions League games this year. With Benzema, Rodriguez and Bale all chipping in as well Real Madrid look almost unstoppable at the moment. Even defensively the team has improved with three clean sheets in the last four. A trip to Anfield on Champions League nights is normally a daunting affair but I have a feeling Ancelotti and his side of Galacticos will be relishing the opportunity of taking Liverpool on right now.
Anfield is a special place on European nights and Wednesday is what the fans have been waiting for since 2009, big opponents in Anfield with everything on the line. Liverpool simply must get a result tonight or they will be looking at an up hill battle to get out of the group. Captain Stephen Gerrard will be the lynch pin for his side who are struggling for goals of late, Mario Balotelli is not finding the net and without Sturridge the Reds just dont have any other options up top. Raheem Sterling will be the biggest threat to the Real Madrid back four but the question is can Brendan Rodgers tactics get Sterling in behind with his pace?
We should see a terrific game of football on Wednesday night as Real and Liverpool both like to play attacking football and with such an array of attacking talent on the field tonight its hard to see this one finishing as a low scoring affair. But the overs dont represent as much value as an away win here and while I do think that Liverpool will put in a good performance I just cant see their backline being able to cope with Rodriguez, Hernandez, Kroos and of course Ronaldo. Take Real Madrid to get the win at a somewhat generous 4/5. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
