Action from Ligue 1 on friday night comes from the Stadium Municipal as Toulouse host Monaco. With just one loss in the last eight in Ligue 1 Monaco have started to turn around their domestic season. In Europe Monaco have actually been pretty impressive and look like they may actually win their group. Monaco lost two of their stars in the summer with James Rodrigues and Ramadal Falcao heading for Real Madrid and Manchester United respectively. Without being able to really replace those superstars its been a transition year for Monaco domestically but they have competed well just havent had the goals. Berbatov is top scorer with three and that indictates the problems for Monaco, while domestically they have been defensively very good the team was built to accomodate the brillinance of Falcao who's average of a goal a game was always going to impossible to replace at such short notice. Still Monaco need champions league football so they must continue to win games like this one.
Toulouse have struggled of late losing four of their last five at home and three of their last five overall. They face a tough ask here against a defensively sound Monaco team and they have had their own struggles scoring goals. Ben Yedder is the key man up front for Toulouse and his seven goals for the season will be best among both teams tomorrow. Toulouse have really struggles at home of late and having started the season with two wins and two draws they have lost three of the last four at home.
Tough one here, Toulouse are probably slightly better than their league position and Monaco are definitely better that their current league position. I think that Monaco are the slightly better team but I worry about the lack of goals up front. I think these two probably cancel each other out and I think unlike both of these teams we can start our weekend off with a win by backing the draw.
