The game of the day in the Premier League will see Chelsea take on Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane. The Blues hammered Tottenham 3-0 in November and will look to get a similar comfortable victory in the London Derby on New Years Day. Jose Mourhino's side have been sensational all season and they will take on Tottenham with a close to full strenght team as Costa, Fabregas , Hazard all look to continue their terrific seasons. Hazard in particular has been brilliant of late and his stunning goal saved a point against Southampton. The inter play between Fabregas, Hazard and Costa has been terrific to watch and Costa has really had a terrific start to his Premier League career netting thirteen goals already. Can Mourhino's men continue their unrelenting march towards the title or will Tottenham pull off a shock at home four days after holding Manchester United's star studded attack?
Tottenham got away with an awful first half display against Manchester United but the home side were better in the second half and could have even nicked the win at the end when Kane played in Mason right at the death. With Erickson and Kane both on fire at the moment Tottenham have looked dangerous of late. In the last game between these two Tottenham started the game very well and should have been a couple of goals up before chelsea took over and dominated the game. Missed chances are what has cost Tottenham in the big games and they will not be able to continue that trend of they want to take any points from this game. Pochettino's side though do seem to be coming into good form and they seem to finally have a grasp of the tactics the former Southampton manager wants to implement.
Chelsea's only dropped points have come away from home and like the Southampton game i think this is a potential banana skin. I am going to take Tottenham +1 here on the handicap. Tottenham have dropped some poins at home this season but with Lloris they have a genuinely world class keeper, the back four has looked a little better of late and in Kane, Chadli and Erickson they have players that can hurt Chelsea at the back. It wouldnt surprise me here if Spurs spring a major shock and get the win but I am going to play it safe with Spurs +1 on the handicap.
