Real Madrid travel to the Mestalla to take on Valencia looking for their twenty third win in a row in competitive action. La Liga took a two week break and unofficially Real Madrid's unbeaten streak was ended by Ac Milan in a friendly in Dubai. Carlo Ancelotti's team have looked absolutely unbeatable at times during this unbeaten streak. Cristiano Ronaldo has been simply unstoppable this season scoring twenty five goals in fourteen league games, yes you read that right, twenty five in fourteen. With Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez, Benzema, Kroos all playing the assistant to the maestro it is not hard to see why Ronaldo has been so good. The whole team is built around his brilliance but even the biggest of Ronaldo fans have to be astounded by how clinical Ronaldo has been this year. But you dont win twenty two games in a row with one player, the defence has been solid, the goalkeeper excellant and the midfield have been majestic. This though will be a tough game always is every year as the Valencia crowd are one of the best in Spanish football.
Valencia come into this unbeaten in five, this is a huge game for Valencia as they sit just outside the Champions League and a win here would cement their position in the top five and maybe move them into fourth. Valencia need more goals from their strikers and on loan ex-Manchester City striker Negredo could be the key man. Alcacer has managed to find the net five times this year but they need more and facing a Real Madrid team that are averaging over three goals a game. Valencia though have been good at home in eight games they have won six drawn one and lost one and that one loss was to Barcelona and the goal was scored in the 94th minute.
This one is really tough for me to get a read on, the christmas break in La Liga is a couple of weeks and often teams come out cold. With Real on such a ridiculous run of form its very tough to get some value on them but a game in the Mestalla is going to be really tough and Valencia have shown an ability to defend especially at home where they have only conceded four goals. I am going to take Valencia +0.5 on the first half handicap. I think Valencia get to half time on level terms.
