After beating Real Madrid 2-1 in the first Leg Atletico Madrid now travel across the city to the Bernebeau to take on the might Real Madrid in a winner take all tie in the Copa Del Rey. Atletico after the cup tie went to Barcelona and suffered a 3-1 defeat in a game that they never really got going in. Diego Simeone's side were disappointing at the weekend in a game that I felt like the could have won if they played with the same desire as they showed last Wednesday against Real. With Koke, Turan , Manzukich and Greizmann there is enough firepower in this Atletico team to beat anyone on their day and led from the back by Diego Godin, they are very difficult to break down. Additionally Atletico come into this game with something to protect as they lead 2-0 from the first leg meaning Real must win by three clear goals to advance, a big ask in a derby game.
Real Madrid returned from the winter break a little flat and they lost their first two games to both Valencia and Atletico Madrid respectively. A bounce back of sorts happened at the weekend as Real accounted for Espanyol 3-0. Cristiano Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema will more than likely all start tonight after Ancelotti decided to rest his star man for last week's first leg. Ronaldo is having another incredible season and the Balon D'or winner will look to set things right tonight in the Derby against Atletico as Real look to advance to the quarter finals. This is going to be a tough ask for Real to overturn the 2-0 deficit but if any team is able to do so it will be Real.
I think Atletico will make this one extremely tough for Real and will pack their defence and midfield to stop Ronaldo, Kroos, Bale and Rodriguez having the space to work their magic. I'm going to take Atletico on the halftime handicap as I think they hold out for the first half. Real might end up winning this one but I dont think it will be by enough to go straight through. We could see extra time and penalties tonight in this one is my gut feeling.
